What are Portable Buildings?
Portable buildings are the ideal solution for any company that requires a temporary workspace solution. The phrase ‘portable building’ covers many types of building such as offices, classrooms, modular buildings, inflatable buildings and cabins. They have many uses including on construction sites, special events, marketing suites, and as temporary office space. Many people assume that a portable building is a rectangular building with a door and a window and not much else. In fact portable buildings can be made to a very high standard and can often not look not that much different from a conventional building once inside. Many companies use them as marketing suites, for example developers use them when they are constructing residential housing so that they have a base on site. The interiors can be made to look very professional with a range of colours and fixings.
Portable Cabins
Portable cabins are what most people might consider a conventional portable building to look like. They come in various forms and can also be known as Jackleg cabins or Anti-Vandal cabins, and are most commonly associated with site security. However they can be fitted with other ameneties such as drainage, plumbing, electricity, toilets, lighting and carpets depending on the required usage.
Portable Offices
Portable office space is popular with companies that have expanded but are still tied into a lease on their current premises. In between the time when they can acquire larger premises, portable offices are the ideal solution for housing additional staff in the meantime. They are also popular with people who are self-employed as they may not want to or may not have room to work in their house, preferring a portable office in their garden.
Modular Buildings
Modular buildings are a form of portable building but usually refer to high specification structures. Modular buildings are made using individual modules or sections, which are constructed in parts offsite. They have a number of uses including housing, commercial and industrial. Increasingly they are becoming popular with schools who need additional room. A lot of companies also use modular buildings as a means of providing additional, high quality workspace either in the short term or longer term. The modules themselves take about 3 months to manufacture offsite, but putting them together can be done in less than 2 weeks. Normally a crane is used to put the modules together and then the required utilities are installed such as electricity or sanitation.
Temporary classrooms
These are another type of portable building that have also become very popular as schools deal with an ever increasing number of pupils. These buildings can be made to feature everything that is available in an orthodox classroom, so that there is no disruption or hindrance placed upon the teachers or pupils. With schools also earning more revenue from additional pupils, many high achieving schools are keen to expand and so often rely heavily on portable classrooms.
Part of the appeal of portable buildings is the flexibility they provide. They can be expanded or reduced depending on the individual requirements and they can also be hired or purchased. Another benefit is that when you no longer require a portable building, you can then sell it on. They can also be upgraded if you require them for a longer period of time.
